Sound sensor module with fine sensitivity adjustment. Simple circuit for making multiple sound controlled devices (e.g. clap light switch).

Specification:
- Supply voltage: 5V
- Analog output
- Digital output (high level when active)
- EMC sensor
- Built-in potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment
- LED diodes indicating operation
- DIMENSIONS: 11.5x20 mm

Pinout:

+ - positive 5VDC power
G - ground
AO - Analog Output
DO - Digital output

Our tests:

We created a basic test circuit connecting a multimeter to module digital output (DO pin).

Then we adjusted triggering point with the onboard multiturn potentiometer. The module responded with a great sensitivity even with very low ambient sound levels.

Turning the pot clockwise sets the triggering point lower (for lower sound level is required to activate the output).

Below ambient sound level preset with the potentiometer, the DO pin provided with 45mV so it is logical low level.

When sound level goes over the value that activates the module, the DO pin goes up go 5V.

When the sound level is close to module switching point, the output voltage may fluctuate a bit between 0 and 5V so it might be worth to consider a filter or a buffer gate to avoid your target device going into unsteady state.

There are 2 onboard LEDs.

1. power LED is always on while the board is powered.

2. output LED is on when the module is active (DO on level high)

The module has been rated for 5VDC but also operates well with lower voltages. We noticed proper operation of the module powered with 1.9VDC but the DO pin output voltage in high level was naturally reduced to 1.9V, as well.
