Bismuth - Pure - Granules - 5g
Pure bismuth is a brittle metal with a silver luster with pink reflections. It is one of the few substances that shows inversion of thermal expansion - when the temperature is lowered, its density decreases, the density of bismuth in the solid state is lower than in the liquid state (water exhibits similar properties below 4 °C). It does not react with oxygen and water under normal conditions. Dissolve in concentrated nitric acid.
Bismuth heated to the melting point and then slowly cooled spontaneously forms funnel-shaped crystals. When cooling is slow, the crystal sizes can become very large.
