Silver Nitrate 99% - Pure - AgNO3 - 5 g
Chemical reagent for laboratory, analytical and teaching purposes.
It is used to obtain other silver compounds. It is used in analytical chemistry, e.g. to detect aldehydes (Tollens test). It is also used to silver mirrors and to obtain silver halides (primarily silver bromide) used as photosensitive substances in photography.
Due to its bactericidal and cauterizing properties, since the beginning of the 20th century, silver nitrate has been used in medicine as an antiseptic, e.g. during the Credé procedure, dental lapisation, and for cauterization. It is a component of an ointment used in difficult-to-heal wounds (Unguentum Argentii nitratis compositum, the so-called Mikulicz ointment).
