Diatomite (also known as diatomaceous earth) is a natural mineral derived from the deposits of remains of microscopic single-celled organisms - diatoms, which for millions of years have accumulated in water sediments. Diatomite is a highly porous material, light grey or white, with a very fine-grained structure.
How is diatomite formed?
Diatomite is formed as a result of the sedimentation process of diatom remains. When these aquatic organisms die, their strong, siliceous skeletal shells fall to the bottom of the water, forming layers of sediments. Over time, these sediments, under the influence of pressure and geological processes, transform into diatomite, retaining a porous and light structure.
Applications of diatomite:
· FILTRATION. Diatomite is widely used in filtration, especially in the purification of drinking water, in the brewing industry, in the production of wines and juices, as well as in the purification of chemicals. Thanks to its porosity, it effectively removes impurities.
· SORBENT. As an absorbent material, diatomite is used for the absorption of oils, lubricants, solvents and other liquids. It is used in the oil, chemical industry, as well as in the removal of spills from various surfaces.
· THERMAL INSULATION. Due to its insulating properties, diatomite is used in the construction industry and in the production of thermal insulation materials.
· AGRICULTURE. Diatomite is used as a natural fertilizer that improves soil structure and as a plant protection agent.
Diatomaceous earth offering for animal breeders:
Diatomaceous earth is a natural product that is gaining more and more popularity, among others in the poultry industry. Thanks to its unique structure and properties, it is an ideal agent for improving animal health, supporting breeding hygiene and reducing production costs. Importantly, diatomaceous earth is not a biocidal agent, which means that it is safe for both animals and the environment.
Why diatomaceous earth?
· A safe alternative to chemical agents. As a fully natural product, diatomaceous earth is an ideal solution for breeders looking for ecological alternatives in managing animal health and hygiene.
· Effectiveness and savings. Thanks to its absorbent properties, diatomaceous earth helps maintain a dry, clean and healthy space, which translates into lower production costs.
· Versatility. Diatomaceous earth has a wide range of applications – from supporting animal health, through improving the quality of the breeding environment, to preventing infections.
Diatomaceous earth is a solution that combines naturalness, effectiveness and safety. By offering this product, we help breeders take care of the health of their animals, while maintaining compliance with the principles of sustainable development
✅Diatomaceous earth is an excellent choice for chicken owners.
Thanks to its natural minerals and trace elements, eggs produced by hens fed this earth will be richer in nutrients. The diatoms it contains help maintain a healthy digestive system, contributing to improved egg quality and quantity. Additionally, diatomaceous earth increases the hens' resistance to disease.
- Fast and effective
- Protects the henhouse and breeding facilities
- 100% natural product
- Absorbs toxins
✅ What diseases does diatomaceous earth protect chickens against?
Digestive system diseases, such as diarrhea and constipation
Skin and skin flap diseases
Respiratory system diseases, such as bronchitis
Skeletal and muscular system diseases, such as osteoporosis
Immune system diseases, such as anemia
✅ What parasites does Diadomite protect chickens against?
Red mites, feather mites, mites, lice, bedbugs, ants, cockroaches, centipedes, ticks
Pinworms: Diatomite is effective against pinworms because it has mechanical properties that absorb parasite eggs and larvae.
Flea worms: Diatomite has disinfecting and drying properties, allowing for the elimination of fleas and other insects.
Hookworms: Diatomite is effective against hookworms because it has mechanical and chemical properties that absorb parasite eggs and larvae.
Other skin parasites, such as roundworms and mites
✅ HOW IT WORKS:
Diatomaceous earth, a fine powder with a particle size of 5 to 100 microns, is effective in controlling insects. Thanks to its unique structure, with tiny, razor-sharp granules, Diatomite penetrates every nook and cranny of the insect's body, damaging its shell and causing moisture loss and dehydration, which ultimately leads to its death.
✅ How to use diatomaceous earth to protect poultry houses against red mites and other parasites:
Dry bath: Sprinkle diatomaceous earth powder in areas accessible to poultry or directly onto the bedding.
Painting: Cover selected surfaces with a slurry made by mixing the powder with water using a brush or roller. After the water evaporates, the diatomaceous earth will remain on the "painted" surfaces.
Spraying: Prepare a slurry of ⅓ powder + ⅔ water and spray, stirring constantly. Repeat the process 1-3 times, every few days.
Bedding powder: To reduce the fly population and reduce unpleasant odor, apply directly onto the bedding at a rate of 75g/1m².
✅ Composition:
SiO2 - 68-73%, Al2O3 - 9-12%, Fe2O3 - 4-6%
